As someone who has always been a fan of scented products, from candles to body lotions and scrubs, I was intrigued when I first heard about the concept of a scent wheel. Essentially, a scent wheel is a visual tool that helps in categorizing and blending different perfumes and colognes. It features a set of primary scents, such as fruity, floral, woody, and spicy, that are arranged in a circle. The wheel also includes secondary scents that are a combination of two primary scents, and tertiary scents, which are a combination of three primary scents.
Using a scent wheel has given me a better understanding of how different scents interact with one another. I learned that some fragrances complement each other, while others clash and result in a confusing odor. By using the scent wheel, I was able to create a couple of scents that pair beautifully with each other. These will be my staple scents that will be available year round.
The first scent is Woodsy Cactus which consists of cactus flower/jade and beechwood. The fresh and floral scent of cactus flower pairs perfectly with the earthy and woody aroma of beechwood. It creates a unique fragrance that is both refreshing and grounding.
The second scent is Golden Sandalwood which consists of velvet vanilla and palo santo sandalwood. The sweet and warm vanilla scent combines beautifully with the rich and smoky aroma of palo santo and sandalwood. This blend is perfect for cozy nights in or relaxation time after a long day.
For those who prefer floral scents, the third is Spiced Amber Garden with wild honeysuckle and spiced honey tonka to make a great combination. The delicate and sweet scent of honeysuckle is paired with the warm and spicy aroma of honey tonka. This blend is perfect for those who want a subtle hint of sweetness in their fragrance.
If you prefer a fresh and light scent, White Apricot has a white tea and apricot blend to try. The clean and fresh scent of white tea is beautifully accompanied by the fruity aroma of apricot and nectarine. This blend is perfect for those who want a subtle, refreshing scent.
Lastly, Moonflower Forest is moonflower nectar and redwoods/moss which is perfect for those who love the outdoors. The sweet and delicate scent of moonflower nectar works perfectly with the earthy and woody scent of redwoods/moss. This blend creates a scent that reminds me of a walk through a forest on a spring day.
The scent wheel has been a game-changer for me when it comes to creating new scents. By understanding the different scent categories and how they interact with each other, I have been able to create unique and personalized fragrances that are great all year long.
